JUNTO
"Scandinavian Botijo"
A modern interpretation of the traditional Spanish botijo
We developed the Junto series inspired by the traditional Spanish botijo, a project born from a collaboration with Danish designer Simon Legald during an internship at Normann Copenhagen.
The main objective was to create a contemporary home accessory rooted in heritage, utilizing terracotta as the primary medium. Throughout the design process, a variety of historical shapes and pottery objects were analyzed to synthesize a form that remains faithful to its origins while speaking a modern design language.

Materiality and surface dynamics
The collection explores the interplay between different surfaces: matte and glazed, grooved and smooth. These textures create a dynamic aesthetic while serving functional purposes. The grooved surface provides a secure grip, while the glazed finish offers a pleasant tactile experience during use. This contrast highlights the natural beauty of the fired clay and enhances the sculptural character of each piece.
Traditional roots with an elegant silhouette
When observing the Junto collection, elements from traditional pottery are instantly recognizable. However, the refinement of the lines gives these pieces an elegant presence, allowing them to integrate seamlessly into diverse interior environments. The result combines the iconic spouts of the classic botijo with sophisticated, contemporary geometry.
Mediterranean warmth meets Scandinavian minimalism
The series brings a touch of southern warmth to the table, using the earthy red tones of fired terracotta to provide depth and contrast against light Scandinavian interiors. This fusion of Mediterranean heritage and Nordic simplicity results in a versatile collection that celebrates both utility and aesthetic glow.
